There truly are no words to express how thankful I am that we found Heather. I credit her 100% for saving my dog’s life. My dog, Jake, is an 11 year old yorkiepoo who battled seizures and IBD for most of his life.
When Jake was about 5 he suddenly became extremely sick and no one could figure out what was wrong with him. We tried everything from holistic vets to acupuncture to the UC Davis pet hospital. It took about 4 years until a specialist finally diagnosed Jake with IBD which is a gastrointestinal disease. As helpful as it was to have an answer as to what exactly we were dealing with, unfortunately, vets seem to know very little about how to successfully treat this disease.
For a while, Jake’s IBD was managed with a homemade diet but the things that Jake’s stomach could handle dwindled over time until he got to the point where he could literally only eat 3 things (none of which were providing him with any quality nutrients). Even supplements would make him sick. And if he got a hold of one TINY little thing that his body couldn’t handle, he would throw up and have bloody stools for a week straight. There came a time when Jake was 9 that it hit me that I might soon have to accept the fact that Jake’s days might be numbered. Needless to say, I was desperate and Jake was miserable. I just KNEW there had to be someone out there that knew SOMETHING that could help him.
Unwilling to quit on Jake, I scoured the internet for resources. An internet search turned up Wags & Wellness! Heather is so incredibly thorough and I truly believe she was put on this earth to help our 4-legged fur babies. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated and I have learned so much from her.
Every single one of Jake’s health issues has cleared up. She completely re-vamped his diet and it has made all the difference in the world. He is still on a strict diet, but can tolerate the occasional scrap inadvertantly dropped on the floor and we have no more diarrhea or bloody stool! The most exciting moment was the day he finally moved off his seizure meds that he had been on for 5 years! I never even thought that would be an option but he has been seizure-free for over 6 months.
Jake just turned 11 and now acts like a puppy! He is back to his silly self, more social than he’s ever been, weighs less than he has since he was about 2, and we constantly get stopped on our walks by people thinking he actually IS a puppy!
If you have a dog that has any health issues start working with Heather ASAP. Even if your dog doesn’t have health issues, take them to her to get them on the right track for a healthy life. I really can’t imagine our lives without Heather and am so grateful that we found her!
